- Wales practices will transition from Vision to EMIS giving them access to several iPLATO products, including iPLATO Toolbar
- iPLATO offers practices more functionality resulting in a better user experience all while being fully funded
London, 04 September, 2024 – iPLATO, a Huma company, is delighted to announce that it will soon be the sole funded digital solution for patient communications for GP practices in Wales. All practices are expected to have moved to EMIS by November 2025.
Practices in Wales have started transitioning clinical systems from Vision to EMIS and will begin to gain access to a wider range of core messaging functions through iPLATO’s My Health Text platform. Features include custom reminders, highly configurable exclusions, and crucially, access to the iPLATO Toolbar, a Remote Consultation tool which includes the sending of Patient Questionnaires and ad hoc messaging.
Offering video consultations across any device – without the need to download any additional apps or software – the iPLATO Toolbar supports one-on-one and group calls. Practices can set up customisable templates for routine communications, file sharing, and automated documentation processes. These integrated features not only save time but also improve the accuracy and efficiency of medical consultations and patient management.
A 2018 BMA study found that over a quarter (27%) of doctors lose more than four hours a week due to inefficient hardware and systems. If this were true for one in four of the 156,750 doctors working in the NHS, it would result in at least 156,750 medical hours lost every week, totaling 8,150,000 hours annually. A practice manager from St David’s Court Surgery in Wales commented on the transition: “Adopting iPLATO’s functionalities will transform how we manage patient interactions and internal processes. Processes that were traditionally time consuming are now efficient and simpler to use”
Scott Pashby, Transformation Lead at iPLATO, commented: “We are excited to bring iPLATO’s digital solutions to over 276 Welsh practices through EMIS. The My Health Text system means Welsh practices now have more funded capabilities to communicate with their patients.”
Soon, iPLATO will launch the Selfbook feature within Toolbar, meaning practices in Wales will have access to Selfbook, at no additional cost.
