iPLATO recognised as HLTH Award quarterfinalist

  • iPLATO named quarterfinalist among 1,500+ in Digital Health Awards.
  • iPLATO’s Hub+ boosts cervical screenings dramatically: 109% increase in attendance.
  • The Hub+ solution uses ‘digital-first’ approach, that has equal success across all communities.

London, date — iPLATO, a Huma Company, is proud to announce its recognition as a quarterfinalist in the 2024 Digital Health Hub Foundation: Digital Health Awards. The Engagment Hub solution, particularly its use in the area of cervical screening, has secured a spot in the ‘Best in Class’ track within the Health Equity category.

iPLATO’s Population Health Service was strategically implemented to combat the persistently low uptake of cervical screening appointments—a vital public health concern. In the East of England alone, about 25% of women, equating to 450,000 individuals, traditionally do not engage with screening invitations. With cervical screening capable of preventing up to 83% of cervical cancer deaths, this initiative has the potential to save approximately 706 lives annually across the UK. By ensuring early detection, the programme not only saves lives but also significantly reduces the financial burden of late-stage cancer treatments on the NHS.

In partnership with NHS East of England, iPLATO has been at the forefront of addressing a decade-long national decline in cervical cancer screening attendance. The traditional method of letter invitations has been less effective, prompting the need for a digital strategy to enhance patient engagement and boost screening rates.

The Engagement Hub solution embodies a ‘digital-first’ approach, seamlessly integrating with existing communication methods to improve outreach and accessibility. This initiative has demonstrated significant impact:

  • A 109% increase in screening attendance, translating to 29,043 additional attendances.
  • Patients are 1.8 to 2.3 times more likely to attend screenings across all levels of deprivation. People attended 1.4 days earlier on average than before the implementation of the Engagement Hub.

Tobias Alpsten, CEO and Founder of iPLATO, expressed his enthusiasm about the nomination: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised as quarterfinalists for our patient Engagement Hub . Our team’s dedication to advancing healthcare equity through digital solutions is making a tangible difference in communities across the UK.”

Out of more than 1,500 entries, only 16 quarterfinalists per category have advanced to this stage, reflecting a highly competitive selection process.

“This year has set a new benchmark for excellence, with a remarkable influx of global submissions showcasing groundbreaking innovations in digital health. The level of ingenuity and commitment we’ve seen is truly inspiring. Congratulations to all of our quarterfinalists for their outstanding achievements,” said Mark Goldstein, Chairman of the Digital Health Hub Foundation.

The finalists for the awards will be announced on September 22, 2023, with the winners being revealed at the Grand Finale event at HLTH on October 21, 2024.
